I love tomatoes! They are delicious and make a nutritious snack. Pomegranate - The Ulitmate Reviver

What is it about-POMEGRANATE-that draws me to it on a bad day?  Not to necessarily eat, but to cut it, and peel the flesh away from the juicy center, and in the process feel the juice of the succulent seeds running through my fingertips and down my hands....ahhh.  Much better!

And, while this type of therapy is only available from October through January (pomegranate season) you can still get it in juice form year round.  You may ask, if the therapy is unavailable, why would I just drink the juice?  Well, not only does it calm my spirit, but it also provides my body with a wealth of needed nourishment.  From the high vitamin C content (just 100ml provides 16 percent of the daily intake needed)  to the powerful dose of antioxidants, you have to say this fruit is pretty darn special.  Now, you probably already know why you need vitamin C, but do you know why the antioxidants are so important?  Well, believe it or not these antioxidants help suppress cancer growth by neutralizing free radicals our body collects from various sources.   And while antioxidants can be found elsewhere, research studies have found that pomegranates carry a higher antioxidant content than other sources like acacia berry and green tea.

Do you cook with pomegranate? If you do, I'd love to hear your recipes.  If not, and you've wondered where to begin, POM Wonderful has many recipes available for you to try.  For example, this smoothie, the Pom Blue.  And, once you have access to the actual fruit, here are some helpful tips on how to cut a pomegranate, also from POM.

Enjoy!

The Journey Begins - Eat Clean 365

As the years pass me by it continues to become ever clearer that all food is not good for me, go figure!  In fact, some of the foods I thought would be more so on the healthier side are not.  Everything is either over processed or full of sugar and hidden FAT MONSTERS.

Well, my sense of urgency to clean up my diet has kicked into overdrive. I'm passionate about learning all I can about the good eats nature has provided us with. There's such an abundance, and it's not just limited to fruits and veggies.  We have herbs, roots, meats and grasses each unique in its taste and benefit to our bodies. In an effort to live a more healthy life, I'm bringing clean eats to my table.

What about you?   I want you to join me and share your recipes and ideas too.  I welcome your thoughts and your own experiences, good and bad.
